Half Term Halloween Family Fun

Lincoln Castle & The Collection Museum

Fans of the children’s book character, Wally, can take part in the ‘Where’s Wally? Spooky Museum Search’ from Saturday 17th October until Sunday 1st November. Take the kids along to find Wally in two of Lincoln’s most popular attractions, with the event celebrating the release of a new ‘Where’s Wally?’ book. The activity is included with the entry to the Collection Museum and the price of a Castle day ticket.

Rand Farm Park

This family attraction, situated 10 miles from Lincoln, is holding a Halloween Pumpkin Festival from Friday 23rd October until Sunday 1st November so perfect for anyone looking for things to do this half term holiday. There will be an Enchanted Pumpkin Show with resident friendly witches Mona and Maud, and every child will receive a free pumpkin which can be carved on site! You can also make the most of all the park’s usual attractions, including tractor rides, animal feeding and play areas.

Lincolnshire Wildlife Park

Located between Skegness and Boston, they are holding a ‘Spooky Trail’ on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November. See the park’s huge range of wildlife on your spooky walk around the park, which will either end in a trick or a treat! It costs just a £1 donation to their charity to join in and the park is open from 10am til 5pm.

Doddington Hall

You’ll be able to pick your own pumpkins at this idyllic country house just west of Lincoln. The Pumpkin Patch will be open from 10am til 4pm right up until Halloween, with pumpkin prices ranging from £2 to £8.

Fantasy Island

For the Halloween season, including the half-term break, this amusement park in Ingoldmells is transforming into Fear Island. Amongst all the usual attractions, there’ll be three new scare mazes, a spooky stage show and the Circus of Screams.

Kinema in the Woods

This traditional, quirky picture house, a 30-minute drive from Hanworth in picturesque Woodhall Spa, is showing a couple of classic Halloween favourites towards the end of the half-term break. Family favourite Hocus Pocus is being shown in the mornings of Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October, while, for the grown-ups, the horror Scream can be viewed at 8pm on Friday 30th.

Animal Amusements

Donna Nook

A seaside resort based just north of Mablethorpe, this destination becomes home to thousands of seals and their adorable pups between late October and December – just in time for half-term! A viewing area is opened up on their arrival to allow people from across the country to witness this wildlife spectacle. It is advised to check the website below before visiting to keep track of the seals’ movements and the latest COVID-19 restrictions.

Bransby Horses

An equine sanctuary and rescue centre near Lincoln, Bransby are holding a Fairy and Dragon Trail right through October. Take the little ones on an adventure around the facility, solving clues to win a prize and meeting some of the equine residents along the way. They are open between the reduced hours of 10am-4pm from Wednesday to Sunday.

Historical and Informative

International Bomber Command Centre

Situated at the top of Canwick Hill near Lincoln, this information centre and point of remembrance for Bomber Command is now fully reopened to the public, with carefully set-out COVID guidelines in place to ensure the safety of all visitors. The centre will be open from 9:30am-5pm from Tuesday to Sunday, with half-term being a particularly poignant time to visit in the build-up to Remembrance Day in November.

Mrs Smith’s Cottage

Explore this unique time capsule, tucked away in the village of Navenby – just a 15-minute drive from Hanworth. Delve into the history of the local community and see how one woman lived her life through an entire century. The cottage is open from midday until 4pm every Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
